Think20 Brasil launched an updated version of the Communiqué which includes implementation roadmaps for some of the key recommendations presented to G20 leaders!
The early delivery of the Communiqué in July allowed the T20 Brasil community to propose an innovative focus on the development of implementation strategies during the second semester of 2024. This approach seeks to move beyond the consensus about what policy measures should be advanced by the G20 and begin to detail how these measures should be taken, by whom, in which fora, with which associated costs and trade-offs, etc.
Adding the 14 implementation roadmaps to the final publication that came out of the T20 Brasil process seeks to enhance the effectiveness and influence of T20 as a G20 engagement group, contributing to make the recommendations in the Communiqué more concrete, actionable, and feasible. The process of developing these strategies involved more than 40 members of the T20 community, including representatives of the Task Forces, the National and International Advisory Councils and the Organizing Committee.
Implementation was also the main theme guiding the discussions during the T20 Brasil Summit which took place on November 11th and 12th at the Itamaraty Palace in Rio de Janeiro. The Summit brought together think tanks, multilateral organizations and policy makers, seeking to bridge the gaps between policy formulation and implementation.
As Tatiana Rosito, Coordinator for the Finance Track, said: “It’s a pleasure to see that we have not only an early Communiqué that contributed to the deliverables of the G20 and in particular the finance track, but also with implementation recommendations, which I think are crucial as we go forward.”.
