On Wednesday, July 3, the G20 T20 and C20 engagement groups, in partnership with more than 35 institutions, celebrated the launch of their joint final declaration.
This declaration focuses on reinforcing the common ground between the engagement groups in the significant areas of the economy, environment, and digital landscape. The Declaration of Convergence Dialogues brings to the forefront crucial topics for Brasil's G20 presidency, such as the importance of reforming the international financial architecture, pursuing a sustainable and just energy transition, and the essential role of digital transformation in contemporary economies.
The T20 Brasil Task Force 03 and the C20 Working Group 1 collaborated to develop ideas about reforming the international financial structure. This collaboration aims to highlight priorities and recommendations based on three key points seen as essential for democratizing the international financial system, historically dominated by developed countries. These recommendations were organized and put forward by the BRICS Policy Center, the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Gestos, Latindadd, and the Institute of Economic Justice.
The T20 Brasil Task Force 02 and the C20 Working Group 3 joined forces to present ideas concerning just energy transitions and environmental issues. The institutions discussed the importance of the G20’s role in influencing the creation of an equitable world for renewable energy without exacerbating inequalities, alongside other critical discussions. These recommendations were organized and put forward by Plataforma CIPÓ, IDDRI, Observatório do Clima, Engajamundo, and Climate Action Network International.
The T20 Brasil Task Force 05 and the C20 Working Group 7 collaborated to formulate recommendations for addressing the challenges of digital transformation, with a focus on achieving an inclusive and just digital transformation. These recommendations were organized and put forward by Data Privacy Brasil, Observer Research Foundation, Instituto de Defesa de Consumidores (IDEC), the Laboratory of Public Policy and Internet (LAPIN), and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
